I ended up stumbling on the wikipedia page for the Novgorad Republic earlier. In the box that showed what languages were spoken there, it listed "germanic languages" as unofficial languages of the Novgorad Republic. Is this accurate? Also, if it is, what Germanic languages would've been spoken there?
We have a plenty of birch bark letters left over from the Novgorod Republic which how we know they had a slavic language of their own, and spoke pretty much everything from Old Finnish and German to Latin and Greek. Some Languages families, while not used explicitly, can be infered from the dropped names.
"Germanic languages" I know of used in the birch bark letters are Middle Low German (11th century. Previously available on gramoty.ru/index.php?no=703 but now the site is down.) and Old Norse (12th century).
