I know it's probably dumb, but my father, a smoking addict, constantly talks about this. He says that "the Nazis ran out of jews and then they went after the smokers", nevermind that there were more than enough gypsies and such.
So I want to know if this true, hopefully with some reliable sources (though I don't really know how you could use a source for something that didn't happen).
It is true that the Germans were the first to recognize smoking's negative effect on health and its link to cancer. However, it was not a myth, and it was definitely not started by Goebbels or even the Nazis. The first emergence of anti-smoking science was in 1929 in Germany, before the Nazis came to power.
The Nazis were obsessed with the Aryan race, as we all know, and they were obsessed with creating a perfect race. This meant healthy, active people who were able to work laborious jobs to propel German industry and the war machine. The Nazis were incredibly good to "Aryan" Germans, and wanted to ensure their survival and good health, which is why they banned smoking.
So sorry, but your dad is wrong. Don't smoke, it's terrible for you.

Are you asking if smoking is bad for your health?
