My grandfather was in WW2 and I'm trying to recreate his WW2 uniform. I have his coat, but what else would have been issued? Like would he have been issued a service pack or something, did pilots carry service sidearms? He was a Lancaster bomber pilot.
Uniform collector here so might be able to give it a go, I assume he would have had a dress uniform (which can be worn up in full dress for certain events) as well a less formal version , in addition to a battledress uniform, a flying uniform & a mess dress uniform (for evening functions) - what uniform are we talking about?
