I am currently collecting research/articles/reviews or anything else related for my third year dissertation in Ancient History on the Roman amphitheatre games. I am particularly interested in a number of internal factors such as the spectacle idea/blood sport classification, the animals used, where they came from, what Rome's relations were with the countries from which the animals were sourced, and finally the social context/impact of the theatre games and the important role they played in the Romans' lives. I am intending to focus on the early-mid Principate period within Rome. Any sources/info would be greatly appreciated.
