The Taiping Rebellion might qualify. It was a huge rebellion in China in the 1850s led by Hong Xiuquan who claimed he was the brother of Jesus. He tried to establish a Heavenly Kingdom that at it's peak ruled about 30 million people. The Taiping Rebellion might also have been the most destructive uprising in all of human history.
