How come it seems that Charlemagne lived for ~300 years?

by BaneWraith

In one of my history classes a few years ago my prof told us that with all the things attributed to charlemagne, he must have lived for over 300 years to actually do all those things. I wish I could give examples but I simply do not remember. Was hoping someone could clear this up for me.

I've seen things that confuse Charles Martel with Charlemagne plenty, and other things might talk about 'the first holy Roman emperor' but they mean a different form of them HRE. Sometimes the entire Carolingian period is substituted with Charlie, because he's the eminent figure of it.
