If Lincoln hadn't been killed so quickly after the war would he have hung Jefferson Davis. I haven't been able to have found anything about this, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this.
In the book Bloody Crimes it was stated that Lincoln really didn't say much about Davis. He did tell a few people that if Davis was caught he became a political prisoner and if he was killed he became a martyr. Lincoln hoped he would escapes to another country and become insignificant and forgotten. He really wasn't an issue until Lincoln was killed. Then he became just what Lincoln said.
