Several rituals are performed in the movie which are very intriguing, specially preparing Kaguya hime to be presented to nobility, and how the host invites the whole land for a 3 day feast, where nobody sees Kaguya, but she sits in a room for 3 days straight.
There are several other instances in the movie that show some very interesting customs of the time. I would be very interested in knowing what age this is in, and if there are other films/documentaries that depict this, or if there's any good reading to do about it.

I haven't seen the movie, but Kaguya Hime is a Heian period folktale and the image you linked to matches that aesthetic.
It's fifty years old, but I'm still going to recommend Ivan Morris' The World of the Shining Prince: Court Life in Ancient Japan as an introduction to the culture and customs of the period.
