Yes absolutely. One of the most confusing times is after Akhenaten (father (we think) of Tut) and husband of Nerfertiti. Basically Akhenanten decided to make some big changes - moving the capital, and reorganizing Egypt's religion (which people weren't a fan of). After he died, most of the history of his life, and his family was destroyed. For a few pharoahs after him Tut, and then two or three more, we're not really sure who they are and if they how they are related to Akhenaten. We're not 100% sure Tut is Akhenaten's son. And one ruler after Akh may have been another son, or Nefertiti taking on another name (this shit causes so many problems). It was fairly common for people to change names after gaining a new position, particularly religious-related. So sometimes we're not really sure who someone is.

After Akhenaten, and later Tutankhamen died, their monuments were smashed, their history erased, their tombs plundered. Tut's was hidden well enough to avoid this, but Akhenaten was probably moved into a relatives tomb (again, we think, we're not sure) to avoid this fate for his mummy. I don't know if it's significant to find the answers, but it's pretty cool. Look up Akhenaten, Smenkhare, Tut and their relatives. There are a few documentaries about them, finding their mummies, and identifying their burial sites. By far the coolest section of Eygptian history (in my opinion)
