The Enola Gay's flight path

by Lurial

from my admittedly brief research I see the plane took off from Tinian islands to the east of the Philippines but the return trip has a rumor of it landing in the Guiuan district in the Philippines.

I was wondering what the facts where surrounding the enola's flight path concerning the bombing of Hiroshima, as I've come across a few sources that disagree with each other.

I have see nothing reputable that suggests they landed in the Philippines. According to the flight logs, they lost sight of Hiroshima at 10:41am, 363 miles away (and about 1,250 miles from Tinian), and had landed back at Tinian by 2:58pm (four hours later). So that means they went 1,250 miles in about four hours = ~310 miles per hour, which is about right (the wartime speeds were about 350 mph). I don't think there's enough time in there for them to land anywhere else, do anything, get back in the air, and make it back to Tinian.
