Essentially yes. The U.S. first wave of the invasion consisted of the 4th Infantry division, 29th Infantry division, 1st Infantry division and the 101st and 82nd Airborne divisions. Of those five, only two, the 1st infantry division and 82nd had fought in Sicily or North Africa.

Of the divisions that landed in subsequent days, I believe only 2nd Armored had previously fought in Sicily or North Africa. Overall there were about 19 US Divisions in Normandy in the first month or so and I think only the three I mentioned had combat experience.

Of course a number of senior officers had combat experience from World War one or the Mediterranean, which helped greatly. Even the experienced units would have also included some green replacements though.
