I'm specifically looking for brief histories that take into account the experience of historical events by working people. Not just histories of labor, but also investigation of minority population experiences and government economic policies through history.
Look for The Blood Never Dried: a people's history of the British Empire. It makes for a decent read and is generally better sourced than the other people's histories.
