Battle on the Talas River - the battle that took place in July 751, on the Talas River (near the modern city of Taraz in Kazakhstan) in the city Atlaha between troops Abbasid Caliphate, and Turgesh Kaganate on the one hand, and the army of Tang China for control of Central Asia.

The battle marked the end of the promotion to the west boundaries of the Tang Empire. At the same time the Chinese military commanders managed cause significant damage to Arab forces that halted their advance to the east, in the Seven Rivers, on land Turgesh Kaganate. Broke out a few years after the battle of the revolt undermined the power of An Lushan Tang China and forced the emperor to withdraw their frontier garrisons east. The Arabs, too, could not hold in the Talas valley and retreated to Shash.
