I'm just wondering if anyone has found any good books or resources on the Republic of Ragusa. There are a few books out there on the history of Dubrovnik. That's fine, though my primary interest is in the independent republic. One thing I'm not interested in is top sights, walking tours, and Game of Thrones filming sites. It's getting difficult to sift through the crap.
So if anyone has any good resources, or knows that a more popularly-oriented resource has good information on Ragusa, please point me in the right direction. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
This is the one I've heard of. It's received some serious criticism as far as I know.
Stuard is a gender scholar and her focus, here, is perhaps to the detriment of the book. There are some other non-English books, but this is the one that I can think of.
Not a whole lot of popular histories out there. You may also check out some histories of Venice. There's many more of them and they're bound to include some information on Ragusa.
