After the Blitz ended in May/June 1941, when the majority of German aircraft were deployed to the Eastern Front, the Luftwaffe continued to attack Great Britain for the rest of the war, but never with the same intensity. In addition to the majority of German effort being devoted to the Soviet Union, RAF night defences that had been largely ineffective through 1940 were significantly enhanced by new aircraft and improved ground and airborne radar from early 1941.

There were two notable German campaigns after the Blitz, both attempts at retaliating against British bombing. The Baedecker raids of 1942, against cultural targets, did not target London. Operation Steinbock in early 1944, also known as the "Baby Blitz", was aimed primarily at London, and caused the heaviest British casualties since May 1941, but rapidly petered out as a result of heavy losses.

There were also "Tip and Run" raids by small numbers of fighter-bombers, generally against coastal targets, but London was occasionally hit; Luftwaffe Fighter-Bombers Over Britain: The Tip and Run Campaign, 1942-43 details attacks on London in January and March 1943.

From June and September 1944 London was also hit by V-1 flying bombs and V-2 rockets, 2419 of the former and 517 of the latter according to Richard Overy's The Bombing War: Europe 1939-1945.
