Hey everyone, I'm trying to find some records for my dad about a pilot who died in WWII. From the info my dad is giving me, his name is Pearson (possible Person), Gregg. However, Gregg may have been his commanders name. He was either in the Navy or AAF, as he was a pilot who was killed at what seems to be the Battle of Coral Sea. Dad's certain he was flying with his squadron and was attacked/ambushed by Japanese Zeros. Looks like he was stationed on whatever ship came before the Lexington, so the "Fighting I". This for me points to Navy. He was killed in 1942 for sure.
I've done research for about an hour now and I figured I'd ask here as well. Anything helps, thanks!

I linked you the Navy/Marines/Coast Guard database because the Battle of the Coral Sea wad a naval battle, notable as the first time two fleets fought one another without ever seeing each other physically. He was likely a Navy pilot
