Have people always known that beheading was an effective method of execution? Did it come from instinctual knowledge or did it develop from a better understanding of human anatomy?
I'm not sure what exactly you're asking. People have been fighting and killing each other since there were people. Anyone would know removing a head would kill someone as surely as anyone knows bashing someone's head in with a rock kills them.
