Thomas Cahill: Hinges of History Series. How good is it as history?

http://thomascahill.com to link to his site. I am reading:

Cahill, T. (2006). Mysteries of the Middle Ages: The rise of feminism, science, and art from the cults of Catholic Europe. New York: N.A. Talese.

It is enjoyable as big picture history, but is it well reputed in the historical community?

I think the lack of comments might mean that no one knows enough of his work and so I will take this as he is not part of historical dialogue.
