So I followed the links in a front page post https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/3hqull/til_during_world_war_ii_president_dwight_d/.compact and got to some... disillusioning... articles. I'd heard everyone didn't like Ike, and I've read a lot of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee and other sad classics; I know saints are rare. Thing is, the article with all the details takes a hard, hairpin right turn in the last few paragraphs, so the grain of salt is strong in this one. Could I please get some elucidation on "Ike's death camps", anyone, please? Reelin' ovah heah...

To put it shortly: Its a gross exaggeration that has been discredited by academia. Its now a common tactic of apologists however, to bring up the so-called Rhine "Death" Camps.
Such rhetorical flourishes:
Why did General Eisenhower immediately order a propaganda campaign about Nazi atrocities? Was it to distract the media from discovering a far more important story?
Need to be taken with a bag of salt; as it generally leads to a line of narrative that is either openly incorrect, or relies on outdated or discredited historical review.
