I hear a lot about how the white man fucked everything up in Africa, and I'm sure there's little disputing that he did. But are the issues of today direct consequences of that?
Africa is a massive continent with huge differences across it. What's true for North Africa is very different than whats true for Western Sub-Saharan Africa vs. Eastern, Southern, etc.
Is there a particular area you're interested in?
Well the North African coast is really quite well developed since it has always featured heavily throughout history so assuming you are meaning the problems in South Africa my answer would be that the problems aren't the fault of colonialism although it can be argued it is one of the causes. A lot of the problems with Africa come from corrupt leaders and also how far behind they are in social practices and technology. IVe probably not answered your question well though at all sorry.
Did you consider that sub-Saharan Africa is much better off as a result of colonialism?
