The fall of absolute monarchies didn't happen immediately; France had a revolution at the end of the 18th century, but later ended up with Napoleon and then the Bourbon monarchy back again. Russia and Germany had various checks on regnal power - although these were generally minor, and, in Russia's case, didn't last very long.

I suppose if we look at the state of Europe on the eve of WWI, you will find that the three great dynasties are the House of Hohenzollern, the House of Romanov, and the House of Hapsburg-Lorraine, which provided the monarchs of Germany, Russia, and Austria-Hungary respectively. But none of these states were true absolute monarchies.

If we go back to look at the political state of various nations before absolute rule was imposed; the Romanovs ruled Russia until 1905 when a wave of social upheaval forced Nikolai II to approve a new constitution. Until 1791, the House of Bourbon ruled France as an absolute monarchy, with that tendency reaching its fullest expression under the rule of Louis XIV.

Absolute monarchy is itself a fairly tenuous concept; although various rulers claimed for themselves absolute power, the extent to which they could do whatever they wished is debatable.

Finally, "before the end of absolute monarchy" is an enormous time period, the end of which is also hard to define - is it 1791, when Louis of France is forced to accept checks on his power? Or earlier, during the constitutional millieu in Sweden following the collapse of the Stormaktstiden and death of Karl XII in 1718? Or perhaps when the Rump Parliament gave Charles I a fatal haircut in 1649? Or before that in 1581, when the Dutch give the Spanish Crown the boot? Or is it still going, as the Vatican City gamely hangs on with Europe's last absolute monarch, the Pope?

I suppose if we've got all of European history, then we'd have to include the Hapsburgs, the Vasas, the Plantagenets...it's huge.
