It seems like the US has never been big on military parades, especially in peace time. Is this related to the 3rd Amendment or is something else at play?
This question came up 8 months ago and got some pretty good discussion.
The theory we came up with after discussion was that parades, except in wartime or the immediate postwar, have been supplanted by such things as air shows, Fleet Week and holiday parades that include military elements without being overtly martial.
