Europe 1783-1914 by William Simpson and Martin Jones fits the bill perfectly. Nice summaritive histories on most things happening Europe during the period with suggested further reading at the end of each chapter.

There are a few solid one-volume introductions around (I used Harry Header's Europe in the Nineteenth Century) but the essential works are Hobsbawm's 'long 19th century' trilogy: Age of Revolution, Age of Capital and Age of Empire.

I consider these to be some of the finest works of general history of any period. Must-reads if you've an interest in the period.
