What ever happened to european nobility after after the rise of republics, rise of people with new money, etc.

I can't speak outside of this limited realm, but quite a few of the Dukes/Earls in the UK continued to own the land and wealth they inherited right up to the present day, although nowadays they mostly stay afloat by opening up their lavish estates to tourists or allowing TV shows to film there as with Downtown Abbey.

EDIT: Soure: Various documentaries about said estates on Netflix and Amazon Prime lol.

Quite similar in Spain, a lot of nobility still exist at least nominally. They have lost their privileges and have to pay taxes etc but remain owning large tracts of land. Some converted many states into the so called Foundations, much more tax advantageous and others lie the recently deceased Duchess of Alba had crop in her lands that were actually subsided by the EU as part of the agricultural programms!!! On top of all this many of these old nobility retain significant high value assets apart from land, an example would be real state like building and apartment in the old quartets or downtown in cities like Madrid..so worth a lot of money. Similarly many also have significant art collections, also worth a lot of money so is not strange to see some of them selling them piece meal when cash is needed to go on with their expensive habits.
