From what you wrote it seems like you got an opinion/theory, and are now searching for historic facts to support it.

But that's really not how historians (or politicians) should work ever. You should look for facts, from different sources (which you should always examine critically) and then form an opinion/theory based on the facts. Not the other way round. 'Cause then you're really just producing biased bs.
