Frederich Katz's big biography of Villa is very good, and it's in paperback. Get through that, and you'll understand a lot of the Revolution. It goes into great detail on the reasons for Villa's raid ( mostly caused by the US blocking shipments of arms he'd already paid for, and helping his opponents while pretending to be neutral) and the result. Dispels a lot of myths about Villa being a lawless bandit.
