Is there an official record for the number of German Nationals who served in the Allied armies in WW2? I'm not talking about people of German descent but those born in Germany and fled to the one of the major allied countries. It's easy to find the number of foreign nationals from conquered allied nations and that got me to thinking about German Nationals. Any Google search gives information about other topics that just happen to include my search keywords.
One keyword that may help if you don't already have it is 'evaders'. German nationals who escaped Germany were iirc semi-officially referred to that way by the Allied armed forces.
