I've only spotted a few books on Sassanid Persia on Amazon, and all of them have mixed reviews. Since there doesn't seem to be one on the book listing here, is there a consensus on a good history of the empire I should look into picking up to read?
I have a professor at my university that has written some things on this subject, and he is incredibly knowledgeable about arabs in pre-Rome and pre-Islamic periods. Try "Between Empires. Arabs, Romans and Sasanians in Late Antiquity" (Oxford, 2011).
