Why is there a metro station called Stalingrad in Paris?

by Adnotamentum

If even Russia dropped the name for their own city why has France persisted in honouring somebody who is quite a genocidal mass murderer? Has there been any movements to change it?

The station is named in honor of the Battle and victory at the city, not the dictator. To my knowledge there has been no serious efforts to get it changed as a result of why its named the way it is.
