Leeds had a lot of war industry including armouries but was largely ignored.
Family legend has it that Leeds was too far from occupied territory and given that nearby Harrogate was a potential evacuation point for the government, that seems plausible, but surely Liverpool was even further off.
Just to clarify, because there doesn't seem to be a question here: are you asking why the Germans bombed Liverpool more than Leeds?
The answer is relatively simple: the port.
Liverpool is the most important port in the west coast of the UK, and the UK was receiving a lot of material -and later soldiers- from the USA through it.
Is Leeds harder to find from the air? The Mersey is pretty wide at the coast (plus the Irish Sea is pretty hard to miss) and I understand that they followed the Thames when going after London...
