In it Pyta argued that Hindenburg was influenced by the unity of society in the so-called 'Spirit of 1914' (or Augusterlebnis) and that during his presidency he sought to establish a Volksgemeinschaft. Pyta claims Hindenburg willfully appointed Hitler as he found him the best candidate to be entrusted with realizing the Volksgemeinschaft. (Countering the previous narrative of an old frail demented Hindenburg who was manipulated by the Camarilla into signing laws).
