I found this article. I can't find any good references. Is this confirmed or is it a hoax?

It's entirely crap.
The picture on top of the page is from Shetland in the UK. The metal dish appeared on web pages three years ago and is probably Chinese. There is no Allison Fletcher in the Sydney Department of Archaeology, or even on the school's entire website.
There's also the fact that this is from Word News and Daily Report, which just barely beats out The National Enquirer among all published materials for having the 2nd least integrity, dignity, and respect for the public's intelligence. The site's other "archaeological" stories include:
2,500 year old whales in the Chiean Andes (actually dated to 8 million years ago) discovered by La Paz University (which doesn't exist)
1000 Maya codices (which are guaranteed to decompose) discovered by Jenny Rothsgard and John H Rawls (who don't exist)
Discovery of Noah's Ark, the Trojan Horse, the tombs of Genghis Khan and Alexander the Great, various evidences of human-dinosaur interaction, and proof that the British had Lincoln killed
