My great great great grandfather was a member of the Chickasaw tribe (maybe, he was a freedman I believe so I'm not exactly sure if he was a member or not) and I know his enrollment card number and dawes roll number. I want to find out more about him and his wife and their parents and so on, so is there any other information I can gather from knowing these ID numbers?
EDIT: I just found a record from a newspaper and the subject is death so I believe it is his obituary. All I have is the article ID number, the Newspaper name, the date and the microfilm number but I can't seem to find the microfilm or anything like that on the web. What can I do?
I'd contact the [tribal genealogist] (https://www.chickasaw.net/Services/CDIB-Cards.aspx). They're nice people, and they can help you figure this out.
The local Bureau of Indian Affairs is a good resource. They will have tribal roll information but you will need to give evidence of your relationship to the gentleman of interest in order to get it. I have done this over the phone regarding my father's tribal roll number.
