I always thought that the Slavs were targeted for extermination as part of the Nazi Final Solution. However, I have a friend who claims that only the Jews and Roma people were targeted for extermination, whereas the only Slavs interned in concentration camps were kept there as Communists, partisan fighters, homosexuals, or Jews who happened to be Slavs, not because they were Slavs in and of themselves. Also, he claims that only Jews were sent to death camps, which are distinct from concentrations camps (I think?), while Slavs were sent to concentration camps. Just doing some fact checking. Thanks.
You're friend is technically correct in that Slavs weren't targeted as part of "the final solution" aka the Holocaust. The "extermination phase" of the Holocaust targeted the Jews and the Roma. Other groups like Homosexuals, trade unionists, communists, etc. were interned in concentration camps and millions of them died, but they weren't specifically targeted for extermination in the same way Jews/Roma were.
However, where your friend maybe should have expanded upon is that the Slavs were targeted for extermination under a thing called the "Hunger plan" which you can read more about here

This is also correct. Sometimes the two were merged, like Auschwitz which was both a concentration camp and extermination camp.
