It seems like everybody with access to a dentist has these bad boys pulled out instead of risking the possible complications from leaving them in, but how have people historically/in developing countries dealt with wisdom teeth?
Teeth have been extracted using forceps and other tools by healers, barbers and physicians throughout history and dentistry as a profession supported by a study of the underlying science developed between 1650 and 1800.
Undoubtedly with some practice and training it would be possible using for anyone sufficiently experienced to remove most teeth, patient compliance pre-local anaesthetic notwithstanding, however the effectiveness of these extractions may not always have been up to a modern standard, and the removal of impacted wisdom teeth which often involves bone removal would have been challenging to these tooth wranglers, and it's likely that fragments of root were left in place frequently leading to further pain and infections.

The reason we have wisdom teeth is to replace the ones that inevitably fall out. In a pre-floss, pre-listerine society it was pretty rare to start adulthood with a full rack.
