Most often anything that has use of small hands, good eyesight, and dexterous fingers. Lace-making, embroidery, thread wrapped buttons, spinning, straw plaiting, certain steps in pin or needle making, etc. The preference is to put the child into an apprenticeship, however. Most of the time this starts around age 12-14, but can be much earlier if the child is in the care of the parish (orphaned or family overburdened). The master often takes on not only the education of the child, but their room, clothing, food and other needs so it costs the guardians or is sometimes taken up as a good deed for the parish. Those that cannot afford that education will pick up unskilled labor jobs at some point in their lives.
