I have been researching low level unit organizations of WWII for some years now, fodder for a roleplaying game I work on now and again. The excellent bayonet strength website has pretty much been my bible, but unfortunately does not include info on French forces. Can anyone point me to a source for tables of organization and equipment for French units, particularly battalion level and below?
Sorry for the crosspost, but I have not gotten any response from posts on other subreddits.
Another user PM'd me a link to this post, which is very helpful. The very detailed unit organization given is for a "North-East" type unit, which I think means a unit in metropolitan France circa 1940, when Germany invaded. I would still be interested in finding out differences between the North-East units and colonial units such as defended Morrocco and Algeria during operation Torch, and the Free French units that fought alongside the British in Libya and eventually went on to help liberate France after D-Day.
