Most of the books I've found have either focused on the character of Napoleon and the campaigns and so on are secondary, or are so closely focused on battles, tactics and organizations that I don't get the context.
I can suggest one or two. Start with Charles Esdaile's The French Wars (Routledge, 2001). It's a pamphlet sized book, about 110 pages, that provides a brief overview of the wars of the French Revolution and Napoleon.
The others are more focused on the Peninsular War. For the Spanish and French side, try Michael Glover's Legacy of Glory: The Bonaparte Kingdom of Spain, and for a broader, but more British-centric one, Esdaile's The Peninsular War isn't bad, although it's not always an easy read.
