There are houses like York, Tudor, Stuart or Windsor? How does the change from York to Tudor or from Stuart to Windsor happen when they are all related? What is a house and when does a new one begin? Henry VII was related to Richard III but the reign of a new house started. Why? I would understand if they were not related at all but not if the new king is just the next in order of succession.

House of ___ is like a surname. Heirs born to female lineage are also eligible to the throne and their fathers might have a different last name. House of Tudor was established when Henry VII won War of the Roses. He is related to the Yorks through his mother instead of his father and his father's last name is Tudor. House of Stuart came about when Elizabeth I died without heir and the next of kin is James VI and I who was Elizabeth's cousin through her cousin Mary Queen of Scots, James's last name is Stuart. House of Stuart ended when the last monarch Queen Anne died without an heir and the next closest eligible kin is James's great-grandson George I of the house Hanover. House of Hanover ended when Queen Victoria married Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and her children bore his last name instead.
