This was asked in a different subreddit and I was curious to see if anyone on here might shed some light on the topic.
I'd like to add on a question about whether the Romans had anything analogous to the Spanish Empire's peninsular/criollo distinction. Were nobles born in the colonies viewed as slightly lower than people born in Rome (or the Italian peninsula)?
Are you wanting to know if the Roman Empire had an "Arkansas" or "West Virginia"?
