Are there any words used in American English that were taken from the French (such as Déjà vu) that were never adopted by the British? If so, could this be because of England's much later friendship with France compared to the US?

Or perhaps is the opposite true? Is the fact that the English and the French knew each other much longer a serious factor in this?

The word 'Entree' is not very commonly used in the UK, and when it is it almost always refers to a starter/appetiser, not a main course.
