I am looking for maps that show where the Japanese were during battles like Iwo Jima, Peleliu, Guadalcanal, etc. It would look something like this map. Thanks for your help!
"The Pacific War Atlas: 1941-1945" by David Smurthwaite (1995) is available in paper back at a low price. The maps in this book for the major battles are about as detailed as the one in your example, of Normandy on D-Day. However, most battles in the Pacific War were much smaller in scale and the maps in the book might not be detailed enough for you.
An alternative would be "Island Fighting" by Rafael Steinberg (1978) Volume Ten of Time-Life Books History of World War II. This book does not have as many maps, but the maps it does have are much more detailed than the ones in Smurthwaite's book.
