I need help finding suitable sources for an internal assessment paper I am writing. The topic pertains to the Russo-Japanese War.

I am having trouble finding sources that are acceptable to the IB program for an essay I am writing. I'm not allowed to get online articles, these sources have to be textual, which makes it a tad difficult.

The paper focuses on the war and its effect on Russia and Japan soon after (maybe how it influenced their foreign policy).

I already have the following: The Rise of Modern Japan by W.G. Beasley The Traveler's History of Japan by Richard Tames The Japanese Oligarchy and the Russo-Japanese War by Shumpei Okamoto The Tsar's Last Armada: The Epic Journey to the Battle of Tsushima by Konstantin Pleshakov (If you guys can tell me if these are suitable qualified scholarly sources that'd be really helpful)

Try a few of these:

Julian Corbett - Maritime Operations In The Russo-Japanese War 1904-1905 (published by the Naval Institute Press). It comes in two volumes and is rather heavy reading; however, it contains a lot of evidence about how the war convinced Russia to increase its naval resources and its military effects on Japan.

There was a paper written just after the war (which counts as a primary source) called 'Reflections, Historic & Other, Suggested By The Battle Of The Japan Sea' by Alfred Mahan and published by the Naval Institute. It might provide a bit of insight into how the war was seen by American political scientists and historians at the time.

John Keegan's WW1 Bible (The First World War) might also help you, as it mentions the short-term political effects of the war in some detail (if only in the first few pages, during the introduction). It gives a bit of a look into how it affected Russia's entry into World War One on the Western side.

Best of luck to you! I also have an IA to do.
