Like all sailors of the time, they would primarily drink water. That said, the French at that period served wine at meals -- wine in particular packed smaller than beer and seems to have been more popular with French ships. Rum was a later invention (if you count "rum" as the stuff that was distilled from sugarcane in the Caribbean, rather than the "sugar wine" of Iran). But again, as this is often misunderstood: their primary drink was water.
