I'm currently taking a history class, and am trying to argue that Albert's early conversion to Protestantism gave him an edge and led his house to becoming one of the most influential in European history. I just wanted to include this fact as a facet if it is true, but I'm not sure how the House of Hanover is related to the House of Hohenzollern. I do know that the King of England and King of Germany during WW1 were related, so I was wondering if this was true considering that fact.
The King of England and the Emperor of Germany were related because Fredrick III Emperor of Germany was married to Princess Victoria eldest daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the son of Fredrick III and Princess Victoria was Wilhelm II the Emperor of Germany during World War I, Princess Victoria is King George V's Aunt so Emperor Wilhelm was the cousin of King George. This means that yes the King of England was related to the Emperor of Germany during World War 1. The Emperor of Germany and the Duke of Prussia were both of house Hohenzollern but because the duke died in 1568 (before the marriage happened) he is not considered a relative of the King of England.
Edit: Also Albert von Hohenzollern like many other nobles in Germany became influential after converting to Protestantism not because of the ideology but because they confiscated the Catholic church's money and land in their realm. You could watch this video to learn more; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1o8oIELbNxE which includes the Duke of Prussia and Protestantism
Short answer: they are very, very distantly related.
Long answer: Albert, Duke of Prussia is the grandfather-in-law of the 7th great grandfather of Elizabeth II's great granduncle by marriage. I think that's the shortest way you could say it.
Elizabeth is related to the Hohenzollerns via her great grand aunt, Princess Victoria, who married Frederick III of Prussia. Frederick III is the 7th great grandson of (so, nine generations removed from) John Sigismund, Duke of Prussia. John Sigismund was married to Albert von Hohenzollern's grand-daughter, Anna.
