I have an assignment for my class which is:

I'm a 80 year old Bavarian aristocrat in mid March 1871. I am also a chief advisor for King Ludwig II. Why would I encourage him to Unify (or not) all "German" States?

What would influence my choices? What major events would affect my decision? Does religion play a big role in my decision? What about the south of Bavaria, which is mostly catholic? How does the philosophy and history of the national movement in the German-speaking lands affect my decision?

I need to have a general understanding of all of this, however I'm having a lot of trouble finding good sources.
