Edit: Based off some research and forum postings, I have switched my order to a full set, the Moss Roberts unabridged version, which based off my research seems to be the best one to get.
I've seen a bit here where people say that Romance is a bit mythological and not always true, the author really hates Cao Cao for example.
What are some good books that give a more true to life version of events, if any?
The Records of the Three Kingdoms (not the Romance) is considered the authoritative history on the time period. Unlike the Romance, it is a serious historical document, not a novel, and was actually written by someone who lived at the time, not by someone living a thousand years later.
