Antony Beevor books are available either as audiobook or on CD, his books about specific battles (D-Day, Stalingrad, Crete) usually contain a good account of battle.

I'd look at Max Hastings books too, although he does cover a little more about the politics, especially those within the armed services such as which senior personnel did/didn't get on well with their peers etc.

There was a TV program based on the book too, available on DVD if you look for it.

I'd just generally look for good books - Hastings, Beevor, Joshua Levine, John Nichol & Tony Rennel for the air services, Ben Macintyre and so on and then see if they are available on CD or audiobook format.
