Please forgive if this is not allowed and please show me where I could go. I acquired this book at a thrift store. It is Hermann Goring "werk und mensch"
It seems to be original but I am also curious if the signature if an original or mass print? Plus there are many photo pages that seem to have messages from some giving this book as a gift, most of which seem former military. I am amazed how far this book at have come and would like some insight into is and if other copies are as similar. Pix in album http://imgur.com/a/3EctN
The author is Erich Gritzbach and he was an SS officer and one of Göring's right-hand men, head of his personal staff, and all around flunky of the Reichsmarshall. It was Gritzbach who was the one tasked with coordinated the mass looting of European artwork for Göring's burgeoning collection. While I cannot say anything about the signature, the book is a 1938 authorized hagiography of Göring. Although Gritzbach wrote this mass-produced biography, his master received the bulk of the royalties.
Hi, this sub is certainly fine, especially regarding the content, historical context and significance of the book. However, if you're also looking for information relevant to condition, resale etc, there are more knowledgeable book-related subs (eg /r/bookcollecting), so do consider x-posting
