I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm german and very curious about this questions, as I've seen a comment hinting something similar. I've heard of this before but thought it was just some nonsense, but this subreddit seems very good, so I hoped someone could help me out. The question is pretty much in the title, so did Hitler offer the jews to other countries,as in he offered to have the US take jews or something similar? I'm sorry if my question isn't very clear, I also have to apologize for my english. I hope someone can help me here.
In 1938 a conference, which was convened by FDR, took place in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was known as the Évian conference. The goal of the conference was to figure out what to do with German Jewish refugees who were fleeing Nazi Germany. Delegates from 32 countries attended, and each showed their concern for the refugees. However, they offered very little practical help. The British declined to increase their quota for refugees, and the Australian delegate said, "as we have no real racial problem, we are not desirous of importing one."
Only the Dominican Republic agreed to take in up to 100,000 refugees, but mainly volunteered in exchange for money. However, only 800 ended up moving there, and most of them moved to the US afterwards.
Hitler noted, about the conference, that it was astounding that, although these nations criticized Germany for its treatment of jews, the refused to take any in.
He said about the conference, "I can only hope and expect that the other world, which has such deep sympathy for these criminals [Jews], will at least be generous enough to convert this sympathy into practical aid. We, on our part, are ready to put all these criminals at the disposal of these countries, for all I care, even on luxury ships."
